A Mugairyu swordsman, Toranosuke Sugi, and one of the leading swordsmen in Edo, Hachiro Date, encountered and started their friendship since then. After Hachiro went to Kyoto, Toranosuke arrived in Kyoto with a swordswoman in male attire. At that time in Kyoto, Ikedaya riot had happened and Shinsengumi had been slaughtered loyalists. Hanjiro Nakamura of the Satsuma domain drinks with both friends and foes such as Hachiro, Soshi Okita and Torajiro, and built friendships.
