English A tangled farce involving bureaucratic "map-makers," their secretaries who want to run things or seduce someone, and clueless simple villagers. I’m not sure whether I was more shocked by the fiery woman’s singing number with her afro or the speed at which Svatopluk Skopal got drunk. I was hoping to find something humorous, but the buttons on Laďka Kozderková’s blouse nearly made my eyes pop out. ()

English Křtiny is such a great comedy that it surprised me. Miloš Kopecký is as accurate as ever, Jiřina Jirásková is similarly excellent, Dagmar Veškrnová didn't really get on my nerves (which is a wonder), the plot is beautifully wacky and the characters "Čirůvka, Ryzec, Hlívová, Koloděj, Kotrč..." are named after mushrooms. The reasonable length of the film is good for the humor, nothing is unnecessarily repeated, almost nothing is excessive... I'm truly satisfied. The only downside is that awful chicken song. Oh, God.
