It's a better film than, for example, That Obscure Object of Desire, but it's not even close to von Sternberg's The Devil Is a Woman. Nevertheless, it's quite interesting to see the traditionally embellished Brigitte Bardot as Louÿs' provocateur. It needed more Spain, but then no one would really believe her role at all because on the surface she's still just the same blonde icon with the same acting register. ()
