Deep within the lawless Oregon Territories of the late 1800s, a dirt-poor young cowpoke with dreams of wealth and respect arrives in town, hoping to make a name for himself and finally rise above his penniless origins. But when he falls for the sexy, streetwise hostess of the local dance hall (Lee Remick) and runs afoul of the wealthy and dangerous town bully, he realizes that his quest for upward mobility has unleashed a fateful chain of events that could destroy everything he holds dear!
