English Poor Dr. Doyle. It’s not an issue that, like a spectator at a cycling race, riders mysteriously disappear from his view without even using banned substances. The problem is that he experiences a momentary lapse into infatuation. Again. And once more, it ends with a heart split in two, without surgeon Bell even needing to use a scalpel. He simply acquaints him with the subtle nuances between opinion and fact. Ian Richardson is precise in the role of Edinburgh’s king of deduction. If he just popped his collar, he could be inviting Jonathan Harker to his castle. ()
