English I'm giving Season 1 five stars, but it’s only because I'm turning a blind eye to some major flaws. The creators seemed to have struggled a little with the passage of time (Ada's pregnancy), but the biggest problem for me was the lack of violence. I doubt that you could just talk your way out of a problem in 1919 England. I think that if someone decides to make a series about gangs, they can’t just avoid violence, and if they do, it ends up looking weird. Anyway, Cillian Murphy sure can stare daggers, I wouldn't want to get in a stare off with him. ()

English I find it really hard to watch a period gangster series that lacks emotions. Upon watching the first series I enjoyed the historic locations of Birmingham, but it was hard to find anybody who would make the second series worth watching. Cillian Murphy is great, but you could not find a colder character in any series if you tried. After the first season, it is worthy of three stars and I will see if I ever push myself into watching the next episodes. ()

English The British version of Gangs of New York. It may lack the lavish production design and pompous sets of its US sibling, but it's still a well-paced crime drama with brilliant dialogue and cleverly written and well-developed characters for a much smaller budget. The stage is set for the next season. ()

English I wanted to start a new saga after a long time, and it had to be a gangster series. Deciding wasn’t easy, but in the end, I chose Peaky Blinders. Without knowing much about the show, I dove in and definitely didn’t make a mistake. Cillian Murphy is a sure bet, and unquestionably one of the most talented English actors; he doesn’t say much, but he has that spark and charisma, making words less important. The post-World War I atmosphere captivated me from the first episode; it was clear that everyone put effort into the sets to ensure the result wouldn’t disappoint the viewer. The series doesn’t offer much action but meticulously portrays each character, shows the workings of a crime family, and, most importantly, delivers a few intense moments that always give you goosebumps. Among the supporting characters, Arthur stands out, with his perfect English accent always amusing me. The season finale was perfect. It’s not worth a full five stars, as there are a few gaps here and there, but nothing serious. The series hooked me, which I consider a success. We’ll see what the second season with Tom Hardy brings, in whom I place great hopes. I give it 85%. ()
