The all new "true crime" case in Fargo's latest chapter takes you back to 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota. "Lou Solverson" (Patrick Wilson), a young State Police Officer recently back from Vietnam, investigates a case involving a local crime gang, a major mob syndicate and a small town beautician "Peggy Blumquist" (Kirsten Dunst) along with her husband "Ed" (Jesse Plemons), the local butcher's assistant. Helping Lou piece things together is his father-in-law, "Sheriff Hank Larsson" (Ted Danson). The investigation will lead them to a colorful cast of characters that includes "Karl Weathers" (Nick Offerman), the town lawyer of Luverne, Minnesota. A Korean War vet, Karl is a flowery drunk blessed with the gift of gab and the eloquence of a true con artist. Brad Garrett will play "Joe Bulo," the front man for the northern expansion of a Kansas City crime syndicate. The new face of corporate crime, Joe's bringing a Walmart mentality to small town America. His number two is "Mike Milligan" (Bokeem Woodbine). Part enforcer, part detective, Mike is always smiling – but the joke is usually on you. Bulo and his crew have their sights set on the Gerhardt crime family in Fargo, currently led by matriarch "Floyd Gerhardt" (Jean Smart). With her husband at death's door, Floyd takes over the family business, frustrating her eldest son, "Dodd Gerhardt" (Jeffrey Donovan). An impatient hothead with a cruel streak to match his ambitions, Dodd can't wait for both his parents to die so he can take over and expand their business from kingdom to empire. "Bear Gerhardt" (Angus Sampson) is the middle son, an intimidatingly large man who, although inarticulate, is the most decent of his clan. "Rye Gerhardt" (Kieran Culkin), the youngest of the Gerhardt clan, views himself as a big shot, but in reality he's just a small dog with a loud bark. (FX Network)

Fargo (2014)

English Because I had seen the Coen brothers' 1996 film Fargo, I was eager to watch the TV series with a similar storyline. I must point out that if the series hadn't been graced with such fantastic actors in the lead roles, it might have faded into mediocrity. Both of the main actors, Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman, improved their performances with each episode, to the point where I was almost in awe of how brilliantly they portrayed their roles. I also can’t forget the lead policewoman. The stylish music fit the story perfectly (the soundtrack can be described as divine). I enjoyed everything about the series, including the Minnesota landscape, the dense atmosphere, and the excellent ending. I'm already looking forward to the second season. Rating: 90%. ()

Season 3 (2017) (S03)

English After a two-year break, we finally got the continuation of this successful series, which is among my favorites. I have to praise the casting choices. I don’t know why, but there’s never a misstep when it comes to that. All the actors delivered performances that left me in awe. I was initially quite skeptical about Ewan McGregor's dual role, but after a few episodes, I was proven wrong. Mary Elizabeth Winstead seemed unlikeable to me at first, but after teaming up with the protagonist from the first season, Wrench, I started rooting for her. Without David Thewlis, I can’t imagine this season now, as his philosophical speeches and general demeanor were simply flawless. Perhaps the third season struggles a bit to maintain the quality across all ten episodes, as some episodes were weaker than others. The music, as always, was chilling, the perfect Fargo style. I expected the final episode to be gloomier, as is typical for this series. I certainly didn’t expect a mini shootout between the cop and Winstead, which ended fatally for both. I debated for a while whether the third season deserved a full five stars, but after careful consideration, I’m lowering it by one star. It was definitely a success, but it lags slightly behind the first two. Even so, I’m excited to see if we’ll get a fourth addition to the family, and I give it 86%. ()
