Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

The turtles are just a passable one-off for me. It bothers me that it's too infantile, I would have appreciated a harder R-rating and a darker atmosphere. Megan Fox is still a top-shelf babe, the action is rather mediocre, but at least it's clearly and entertainingly filmed. The film goes by quickly, but the age range is unfortunately around 13-17. Rocksteady and Bepob were properly wacky, which is the film's biggest plus. 65% (2016-09-01)

It's quite overstuffed, and there are incredibly great moments that you'll remember for a long time, but there's also a somewhat underwhelming ending, and the character of Krang remains essentially underutilized. Overall, I found the film rather entertaining, but it's a shame that the creators focused more on jokes than on a better story with a solid finale that is not only visually interesting. (2016-06-05)

Basically like part one + the annoying Tyler Perry. Infantile humor works. Rocky and Bob are good and demented and Krang and Technodrom have undergone a likeable modern update. Fox is still the artificial ham she always was. Jones pissed me off - a casting fail. But the action in Brazil is a childhood dream come true. (2016-12-18)

Even more retro than we hoped. Krang is overflowing with slime, The Shredder returns, assisted by Doctor Stockman, and Casey Jones also gets a few hits in. Summer 2016 has favored my childhood loves, and after Tarzan, the Turtles also get another chance, returning in an even better form, despite the convoluted plot. They have a car, they have enthusiasm, they have April, and they are still a great source of fun. I'm no longer six, so I have to reluctantly restrain my excitement, but when a new (yet perfectly respectful) version of the most legendary theme song ever started playing during the closing credits, I was on the verge of genuine emotion. If you loved the turtles and wanted to experience that feeling again, you're in the right place with this movie. (2016-07-09)

The sequel didn’t learn much from the mistakes of the first film, but thanks to the return of familiar characters and a slightly better and more imaginative story, it managed to surpass the original. As a kid, I watched the original series about these turtle guardians, so I appreciated the presence of Bebop and Rocksteady (who were fantastically created). I was even more excited about Krang, who, though he had a lot of slime, it only added to his disgusting appearance (honestly, he looked a bit like chewed gum). The jokes were decent, although some felt completely out of place. The story boasts a more colorful plot than the first film, but nothing groundbreaking happens. The action and visual effects were top-notch, but with a $100 million budget, that should be expected. Megan Fox as reporter April didn’t disappoint, and with Stephen Amell, they made a likable duo. The final destruction of New York (yes, once again, the creators decided that destroying NY is still fresh and the audience won’t notice) was passable. I wasn’t blown away, but compared to the first film, this was a more than successful result where the potential was fully realized. I give it 68%. (2017-07-27)
