Plots(1)

Comic actor Ben Stiller co-wrote, directed, and stars in this spoof of the fashion industry that began as a short skit for the 1996 VH1 Fashion Awards. Stiller is Derek Zoolander, an intellectually challenged but bone structure-blessed male model who's despondent after being eclipsed in popularity by an equally vacuous rival, Hansel (Owen Wilson). Upon his reluctant retirement, Derek is invited to a day spa by previously standoffish fashion designer Jacobim Mugatu (Will Ferrell), where the befuddled model is brainwashed by the mysterious Katinka (Milla Jovovich) into assassinating the prime minister of Malaysia. English I'll have Ben Stiller fixed in my mind as an original filmmaker, also considering his previous The Cable Guy. Zoolander is a hard to describe film, with an original story and some brilliant scenes. I can't say I laughed my ass off, but it's definitely not boring crap. ()

English I just love this comedy. It's so stupid it's great. It's playing on foolishness, yet at the same time, it's an excellent critique of what is actually important in our society. There are absolutely fantastic characters here that will stick in your memory, partly because their portrayals were so committed, and the actors weren't afraid to give it their all. ()

English Funny shit to turn off your brain! The idea is a great satire and the execution is even better. The demented humor for lobotomies is right up my alley and the result is better than I expected. I would have welcomed a bolder, sillier dose of humour, but I'm still satisfied, and Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson clearly enjoyed their roles to the fullest, and so did I. Satisfying. ()

English On most works of the legendary Frat Pack, I can find a surprisingly large number of mistakes, but this is the best. Insane, at times incomprehensible, but full of absurd humor and immensely funny, and striving for the highest rating from me. Zoolander has exactly the swagger and the right way of uncontrollability and unclassifiability that I can adore, even at an age when I am no longer the target audience. ()

English That's how you find out one day that you don't have a review for Zoolander, even though you love that movie about a totally dumb good guy (who controls so many different perspectives) so much. A very funny and very clever comedy that has no problem switching between crackling humor and moments that I'm not afraid to call poignant and yet still funny, well cast and not giving a damn. ()
